Position Description: Imagine One is seeking candidates for assignment as a UNIX Shell or Scripting Language Developer.  This task supports the development, testing and implementation of the Project Sequencing and Scheduling (PSS) custom software application that is used to schedule complex overhauls of Navy Ships and Submarines at the US Navy Shipyards and Regional Maintenance Centers (RMCs).

Responsibilities: Assists in designing, coding, testing, developing, and documenting application programs and procedures for the Project Sequencing and Scheduling application custom software solution, developed for the Navy Maritime Maintenance Enterprise Solution (NMMES) Sustainment and Modernization Program.  Develops Software Requirement Specifications (SRS), Software Design Documents (SDDs), Test Cases and application code from program specifications.  Test resulting instructions and identifies erroneous coding and inadequate or incorrect design.  Performs modifications to and maintenance of operational programs and procedures.
Job duties may include:
  • Provide programming support for life cycle maintenance of applications, including coding and unit testing.
  • Test and document computer programs, applying knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems.
  • Design computer terminal screen displays to accomplish goals of user request.
  • Replace, delete, or modify code to correct errors.
  • Write documentation to describe basic program development, logic, coding, and corrections.
  • Assist users to solve operating problems.
  • Assist in the recreation of steps taken by user to locate source of problem and rewrites program to correct errors.
 Experience Requirements:  
  • Work experience or educational experience with UNIX Shell scripting.
  • Must be detail oriented, excellent at both verbal and written communication.
  • Experience and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and utilize critical thinking skills.
 Educational Requirements: 
  • Bachelors/Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred. 
  • Familiarity with Unix shell scripting, VMS DCL or other interpreted language coding can substitute for degree. 
 Security Requirements:  
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Candidate must have an ACTIVE SECRET clearance or able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
